Report by Joycelyn Adoma Arthur -4/03/2024

Mr. Joel Yamoah, a communicator from the NPP (New Patriotic Party), has expressed his concern about the passage of the LGBTQ+ bill in parliament and its potential impact on the party’s popularity.

Speaking on AIT TV’s Morning Dew, Mr. Joel emphasized the importance of the president signing the bill into law, even if it comes with ramifications.

During the interview, Yamoah highlighted a perceived difference between Africa and the West, stating, “They have realized that there is one particular thing that differentiates Africans from the West that makes us more human than them. And that is the LGBTQ+. They want to put us on that pedigree.”

Yamoah also touched on the significance of Africa’s natural resources, suggesting that by harnessing these resources, the continent can become financially independent and reduce reliance on international institutions such as the IMF and World Bank. He called for a reorganization of Africa’s approach to utilize its natural resources effectively.

Furthermore, Yamoah emphasized the need for unity among West African countries, ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States), and the African Union (AU). He urged them to come together and support each other in addressing pressing issues.

Addressing the potential consequences of the president’s decision on the LGBTQ+ bill, Yamoah stated,”If Ghanaians, because of this LGBTQ+, the president refuses to sign and he is not telling us anything, and Ghanaians vote against NPP…hallelujah.”

He further emphasized the importance of having proper consensus and debate on the issue before making a final decision.

Yamoah’s statement reflects the concerns and expectations of the NPP regarding the LGBTQ+ bill. The party recognizes the potential impact of the president’s decision on their support from the Ghanaian population.
