ECG Assures Public of Stable National Grid

Report by Pearl Amoako- 30/03/2024

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has reassured the public that the national grid remains stable, as stated in a recent press release issued on Easter Friday.

The power distributor has attributed the recent power outages in specific areas to localized faults and is urging its customers to report any such faults for necessary action to be taken.

“The Electricity Company of Ghana would like to inform our valued customers and the general public that we have a reliable and stable national power supply (national grid). Any customer currently experiencing a power outage is likely due to a localized fault.”

Earlier, the ECG disclosed that it had issued more than 100 power outage notifications in the first two and a half months of this year, mainly for maintenance activities.

This disclosure was made in response to an inquiry from the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) regarding the ECG’s power outage records for this year. Among the PURC’s inquiries, the response from the ECG was the only one expected by March 27th. It is worth noting that the PURC had requested the ECG to provide a load shedding schedule.
