The Government of Ghana has officially declared Thursday, April 11th, as a statutory public holiday to facilitate the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr. This decision was made to allow Muslims across the country to observe and commemorate the conclusion of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.
Eid-ul-Fitr holds significant religious and cultural importance for Muslims worldwide. It marks the end of Ramadan, a period of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community service. The duration of Ramadan typically spans 29 or 30 days, depending on the sighting of the new moon by local religious authorities. Consequently, the exact date of Eid-ul-Fitr varies from one locality to another, as the new moon may be observed at different times in different regions.
The declaration of April 11th as a public holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr was announced through a statement signed by the Interior Minister, Henry Quartey.
