Three teams sent packing from 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup

At least three teams have been eliminated from the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. They are Costa Rica, Zambia and the Republic of Ireland.

Costa Rica were sent packing from the tournament after losing their first two Group C matches against Japan (0-2) and Spain (0-3).

Zambia’s exit was also confirmed following 5-0 battering by both Japan and Spain in their opening match and second group game respectively.

For Ireland, they exited after losing 0-1 to Australia in their opening fixture and after getting defeated 2-1 by Canada in their second Group B fixture.

Costa Rica will now play Zambia in their final Group C game while Spain will face Japan for the top spot in Group C after winning two matches each.

Ireland, on the other hand will play their last game against the Super Falcons of Nigeria.
